Currently seeking an Executive Director, Global Value & Access Area Lead – HIV & Emerging Viruses to join this organization. You will be leading a team in this in-office role.
You:
- BS & 16 years’ experience OR Advanced degree & 14 years’ experience in pharma or biotech; MBA preferred
- Strong leadership experience
- Significant experience developing value & access strategies
- Ideally candidate will have broad global experience, including regional in-country experience
- Ideally candidate will have deep understanding of global payer environment, including coverage and reimbursement
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high visibility, matrixed environment
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- HIV experience would be a strong plus
- MUST BE COVID VACCINATED
- WILL BE BASED IN SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO OFFICE (You can work in office 3 days/week, from home 2 days/week) – WILL RELO – Relo includes a Cost of Living Adjustment if you qualify!
As this company continues to expand their scope into new disease states and new markets, they are investing in our global commercial capabilities. In this role, you report to the Vice President, Head of Global Value and Access (GV&A) and will lead their Global HIV & Emerging Virus (EV) Value & Access team to build market access strategies and value propositions for HIV/EV assets.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead an industry-leading team to develop and execute robust global value and access strategies across the HIV&EV therapeutic area (TA), including setting clear direction for planning and implementation, creating V&A objectives, coordinating strategies across assets, and providing guidance and input for all key V&A deliverables
- Oversee the generation of the global V&A strategy, integrated evidence plans, value story, and stakeholder engagement planning for TA-specific assets in both HIV & EV (EV focus are medicines to treat COVID-19)
- Partner with Global Strategy Marketing (GSM) TA Lead to ensure alignment of V&A strategy with the global brand strategy
- Ensure collaboration with cross-functional partners (Clin Dev, Medical Affairs, Government Affairs, and other global and local commercial counterparts) to develop a comprehensive TA strategy and business priorities
- Represent TA from a V&A perspective, providing a comprehensive view of the global priority Affiliates (G9) to the team and cross-functional partners, including Clin Dev, and ensuring the payer perspective is reflected in the overall product commercial and development strategy
- Guide the development and implementation of global value and access strategies for TA-specific assets throughout the product lifecycle, from pre-clinical to post-launch, drawing on health economics, pricing models, payer landscapes and global evidence requirements to maximize product value and patient access
- Deliver strategic leadership as an active member of GV&A’s leadership team (LT) and the HIV Franchise cross-functional LT, shaping the team’s strategy, priorities, and activities
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree and Fourteen Years’ Experience OR Masters’ Degree and Twelve Years’ Experience OR PhD and Twelve Years’ Experience
- Preferred: MBA and/or advanced degree in life sciences or medical degree
- 16 years’ experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry in market access-related activities
- Broad therapeutic-area knowledge of HIV is a value-add
- Global experience working with (or in) multiple key markets, including regional, as well as country-specific regulatory systems and global health systems
- Deep understanding of global payer environment, including coverage and reimbursement, pricing and contracting, formulary management, HTA and payment policy
- Expertise in strategic pricing, contracting and negotiation, including innovative approaches and experience developing pricing strategies and business cases
- Advanced understanding of the pharmaceutical product lifecycle, including experience with market access launch planning, execution, and drivers of value
- Significant experience developing global V&A strategies, including developing global value messages, integrated evidence planning and creating tools to support implementation in key markets
- Experience with early-stage assets, including conducting commercialization assessments and providing V&A guidance into target product profiles and development plans
- Proven track record managing a high-performing team, building a distinctive team culture in a globally dispersed team, and developing people through coaching and mentoring
- Demonstrated ability to lead and influence cross-functionally, while also serving as a highly-skilled facilitator, negotiator, and counselor
