My client, a small fully integrated biopharmaceutical company based in Westchester County, New York discovers, invents, develops, manufactures and commercializes medicines. I am currently working on a Manager/Senior Manager/Associate Director, Incentive Compensation for this client.  Level will be determined by experience vs. internal equity.  This organization does much of the hands-on IC work in-house vs. through external vendors.  The ideal candidate for this role will have the following:

                               

  • Must have solid pharma/biotech Incentive Compensation experience
  • Must have strong technical skills (technical IC plan design skills, technical IC modeling skills, experience across multiple therapeutic areas)
  • Must have strong excel skills
  • Must have strong communication skills
  • Role is an individual contributor for now, but may have a direct report in the future
  • Must be willing to be hands-on, roll up your sleeves and own IC on your assigned brand(s) from end to end

 

TITLE:  Manager/Senior Manager/Associate Director, Incentive Compensation

Known for its scientific and operational excellence, this client is a leading science-based biopharmaceutical company that discovers, invents, develops, manufactures, and commercializes medicines for the treatment of serious medical conditions. This specific company commercializes medicines for eye diseases, high LDL-cholesterol, atopic dermatitis and a rare inflammatory condition and has product candidates in development in other areas of high unmet medical need, including rheumatoid arthritis, asthma, pain, cancer and infectious diseases.

 

The role of the Manager/Senior Manager/Associate Director, Incentive Compensation will provide IC subject matter expertise to stakeholders/customers, lead in IC Plan design, IC Administration, Analytics and stakeholder management and provide Project Management expertise to ensure the highest levels of quality and timeliness.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Provide consulting to stakeholders/customers on IC best practices, customized solutions pertinent to the current situation, thought leadership in design meetings.
  • Lead the IC Plan design activities. Be able to roll up his/her sleeves and perform modeling, apply thought leadership and create presentations. Present them to stakeholders/customers.
  • Lead IC Plan administration activities- implementation of IC Plan, creation / QC of IC reports, timely distribution to stakeholders/customers.
  • Manage stakeholders for inputs, outputs as well as thought leadership.
  • Identify risks and plan ahead for mitigation.
  • Ensure highest levels of quality and timeliness in deliverables.
  • Work as self-initiator with minimum guidance. Be able to manage ambiguity.
  • Possess strong work ethic to be able to see through the projects without supervisor monitoring.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Minimum 8 years of "progressive" industry/relevant professional experience. Must have at least 3 years of IC experience either consulting for a Pharma company on Incentive Compensation projects or having worked in a Pharma Company in Incentive Compensation department. Total years' experience 8-12.
  • IC Plan design- Understand the unique dynamics and create customized IC Plan Options backed up by thorough modeling / analysis/ simulation for both existing products as well as launch products. Help the stakeholders choose the best option through analysis backed recommendations.
  • Manage both current products and new launches from an IC perspective.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for the Senior Management. Be aware of the industry best practices in all aspects of Incentive Compensation.
  • End to end execution of Incentive Compensation Activities – Plan design, Goal Setting, IC Administration (Home Office and Field Report processing), Ranking Reports, IC Payouts.
  • Stakeholder Communication- Close interaction with various stakeholders viz. Legal / Compliance, Finance, HR, Sales, Marketing, Brand, Sales Analytics, etc. Alignment in terms of IC Philosophy and Company objectives.
  • IC Governance: Establish and maintain strong governance structures for IC processes, policies and business rules.
  • Field Communication: Roll out IC Plans, Goals, IC Payouts, etc to the Field, manager Field enquiries, provide training and resolve issues.
  • Sales data: Expert in various components of IC grade data- Xponent, DDD, etc., use it for IC and Reporting, being able to explain it to the Field and stakeholders and be able to QC it.
  • Analytics; Hands on in performing number crunching on large amounts of IC data, generate adhoc reports and deliver to stakeholders.
  • Generate dashboards both for the Field as well as Senior Management. Design the dashboards and automate the process of their creation to optimize repeated process execution.
  • Utilize VBA, SAS, SQL, MS Excel, etc. for modeling / simulation and MS Power-point for presentations.
