Manager (or Associate Manager), Sales Operations

TITLE:  Manager (or Associate Manager), Sales Operations
REPORTS TO: Associate Director, Sales Operations
LOCATION: South San Francisco, CA

The Associate Manager/Manager, Sales Operations is responsible for the ongoing process of improving the sales force’s ability to be productive and effective communicating with customers. This position oversees multiple aspects critical to sales force enablement including, field communication, field portals, licensure, credentialing, and will also support commercial effectiveness work. This individual will need to work in close proximity with the sales and marketing teams as well as cross-functionally with various internal and external stakeholders with a primary goal of seamlessly supporting field-based teams.  This individual will have a focus on developing and implementing initiatives and operational processes to increase field effectiveness.  This position reports to the Associate Director, Sales Operations.



  • Partner with leadership to identify communication strategies to create communication programs that enhance sales engagement and increase field effectiveness
  • Manage the creation, development and execution of communication initiatives that align with business objectives and engage field personnel
  • Maintain commercial field communication portal and calendar
  • Communicate key operations information including maintaining and updating Field Operations Guidelines and conveying information via new hire onboardings, regional trainer meetings and other forums
  • Maintain and update vendor credentialing and exhibit portals
  • Coordinate jurisdictional professional licensures for field personnel in partnership with cross functional stakeholders
  • Assists with execution of Commercial Effectiveness work including Sales Effectiveness studies, Sales Goals & Objectives Refinement and field coaching platform


  • Bachelor’s degree in related field required
  • 4+ years of relevant experience in sales operations, preferably in pharmaceutical or medical devices
  • Strong project management skills that enable ability to execute many projects with tight deadlines: strong attention to detail and follow-through
  • Excellent communications skills with an ability to efficiently and productively communicate both verbally and in writing are required
  • Ability to work with and coordinate demands from multiple internal customers
  • Ability to analyze critically and objectively to define and solve problems and to identify opportunities
  • Demonstrated ability to manage vendors and service levels
  • Strong working knowledge of relevant software systems (e.g., MS Excel, Access, MS Word & PowerPoint, etc.) is required
  • Clear history of exercising sound business judgment and clear decision-making
  • Must be fluent in conversational and written English
