Our Client, a multi-site producer of chemicals and allied products, has an immediate opening for a Maintenance Area Manager at one of its sites in Wyoming.


Position Summary: 

The Maintenance Area Manager is a key contributor to operations of the site’s maintenance team, supporting the Director of Maintenance, and leading the Maintenance department. The ideal candidate will be looking for an opportunity to grow and improve the maintenance team of one or more chemical processing plants, focused on continuous improvement while maintaining the success of the current maintenance organization.   


Key Responsibilities  

  • Safe, reliable and cost-effective production to meet or exceed business needs and objectives
  • Development and execution of operating plan and manage results against the plan
  • Accountable to manage plant costs to budget including unit costs, capital projects, maintenance supplies and labor, capital projects and engineering
  • Leadership and oversight of Plant EHS programs and practices including Safety Leadership teams
  • Leadership and direction to the Plant Maintenance team including the accountability for growth and development of talent within the organization
  • Strong communication and partnership with other business areas to support safe, reliable operations for the site
  • Champion the use of continuous improvement tools to implement strategic initiatives relative to safety, cost, capacity utilization, reliability, and productivity
  • Drive cultural change, implementation of Maintenance Work Process, and continuous improvement mindset
  • Asset management for plant facilities
  • Compliance with all applicable laws and corporate requirements


  • Provide leadership and direction to implement EHS and manufacturing standards and best practices and build consistency across plant operations
  • Manage plant operations to meet the S&OP targets for the business including EHS, production, cost, quality, and reliability
  • Accountable to develop, manage, and reconcile financial and business budgets, forecasts and reporting at the plant level
  • Communicate with key stakeholders business performance and strategic initiatives
  • Partner with Plant Operations, Maintenance, and Financial leaders to ensure the integration and balance of production requirements across the site's surface operations to optimize safety, cost and reliability
  • Development and growth of manufacturing and engineering talent including coaching and mentorship
  • Establish and report on performance objectives and KPI's within the plant
  • Coordinate with Corporate and site resources to continuously improve safety, manufacturing costs and technology
  • Manage the plant assets including the prioritization and authorization of capital and engineering projects
  • Develop appropriate responses to performance trends
  • Partner with Human Resources in labor relations and contract administration
  • Champion ISO 9000 efforts within the plant
  • Owner of Maintenance MAP process 


  • B.S. in Engineering from an accredited 4-year college or university AND 5 years of maintenance experience


  • HS Diploma or equivalent, such as the GED, from an accredited educational institution AND a minimum of 5 years maintenance experience AND 10 years combined manufacturing and maintenance experience
  • Minimum 5 years supervisory experience
