Senior Director / Vice President, Differentiating Experience

My client, a mid-sized, well-established multi-billion global pharmaceutical company in the Atlanta suburbs, aims to be the next generation biopharmaceutical leader based on unique blending of innovation, entrepreneurship and experience, bringing breakthrough innovation and new medicines for patients suffering from severe disease.  My client operates in more than 40 countries, integrating technology and chemistry so they can gain much deeper insights into disease pathways, including the complexities of severe diseases, as well as producing more potent, cost-effective drugs.

Currently seeking a Senior Director OR Vice President of Differentiating Experience.  This person will create a patient experience in targeted rare diseases that will generate a genuine patient preference for the company’s product-based solutions, inclusive of all touchpoints from branding to access to advocacy to administration, etc.

YOU:

  • 10+ years pharmaceutical commercial experience (i.e., VP Strategy, VP Commercial, VP Rare Disease, Commercial Development, New Product Planning, Product Strategy)
  • Prefer science-based undergrad, plus advanced degree but will consider others
  • In-depth knowledge in the rare disease space
  • Launch experience in rare disease
  • Patient-centric
  • Strong strategic thinker
  • Experience managing a team (will be building your team)
  • Will be based in Atlanta, Boston or in the field, depending on candidate

TITLE:  Differentiating Experience Lead

REPORTS TO:   SVP

DIRECT REPORTS:  Yes, will build team

RELOCATION:  Yes, to Atlanta….or will be field-based, depends on candidate

 

The lead of this team will forge an entirely new, positively disruptive presence in the market.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

This role is responsible for Engaging directly with patient communities to generate a distinct credibility for the company as a leading partner in rare diseases, building concrete, executable plans to drive patient access, commercial strategies, community/advocacy engagement, integrated device plans, innovative distribution solutions. Deliverables will include:

  • HCP/KOL strategy (brand/science platform)
  • Driving insight generation and definition of targeted populations
  • Building solution propositions and integrated access strategies
  • Strategic external engagement plans
  • Comprehensive experience design – engagement, education, administration, follow-up
  • Leading a team with diverse expertise, and matrixing broadly with other Missions and Practices

The Differentiating Experience Lead will:

  • Directly lead a team of colleagues focused in Commercial, Access, Patient Engagement, Insight generation, Launch planning
  • Work closely with the Development Lead and Platform Strategy Lead to shape the full life-cycle of the asset.
  • Report directly to the Mission Lead, and sit on the Mission Leadership Team
  • Guide collaborative efforts, with multiple Missions, to define and build the brand experience: Lead a cross-functional and matrixed team in building solutions for patients
  • Foster an agile team environment where the right experts flow to the work and patient value-driven priorities lead vs functional norms
  • Design processes for optimal strategic thinking, structure and communication to internal decision bodies
  • Deliver comprehensive solutions on time to empower rapid launch and uptake

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, in a relevant life science or business-related discipline
  • Specific Marketing qualifications or MBA (optional)
  • In-depth knowledge of rare disease industry, including successful global rare launches
  • 10+ years of successful leadership assignments in strategic marketing or other early-stage commercial functions (eg. New Product Planning)
  • Demonstration of successful working relationships with cross-functional stakeholders
  • Strategic thinking, project management, problem-solving ability, customer focus, and commitment to quality
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Marketing excellence with knowledge of key approaches, critical steps
  • Strong project planning skills
  • Excellent communication skills with individuals with different cultural, professional and academic backgrounds, including the ability to simplify complex issues
  • Demonstrated ability to use MS Excel for modeling, financial analysis, and management of tasks, as well as MS PowerPoint
