Senior Manager OR Associate Director Sales Training

 

My client, a small fully integrated biopharmaceutical company based in Westchester County, New York discovers, invents, develops, manufactures and commercializes medicines. They have an extensive solid pipeline, including multiple late stage development products, and are known for their scientific excellence.

If this sounds like the type of organization you would like to work for, keep reading. I am currently working on a Senior Manager OR Associate Director of Commercial Training (Sales Training).  The ideal candidate for this role will have the following:

                               

  • 8+ years pharmaceutical experience
  • Prior sales training experience (prefer corporate based training experience, but will consider full-time field-based training experience)
  • This is NOT a field-based role
  • Passion for training
  • Strong emotional intelligence
  • Experience working with training vendor partners in building curriculum
  • Ability to work in an evolving and dynamic environment/flexibility
  • Biologics, asthma or dermatology experience are all pluses
  • Launch experience is a plus
  • Co-promote experience is a plus
  • Authorized to work for any employer in the US without sponsorship

 

TITLE: Senior Manager OR Associate Director Sales Training

LOCATION:   Westchester County, New York                                

REPORTS TO: Director, Commercial Training and Development - Immunology

RELO: Yes

 

The Senior Manager OR Associate Director of Commercial Training (Immunology) will report to the Director, Commercial Training and Development, Immunology and is responsible for development, delivery and coordination of the Immunology product specific training materials. Areas of focus include the delivery of product and competitive knowledge, market access and customer interaction skills. Training support includes all areas of commercial including sales, marketing and reimbursement.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leads in the development and execution of disease state, brand & therapeutic area specific training programs and meetings, and drives other relevant training initiatives
  • Creates and facilitates workshops for POA, Product Launches and other training meetings
  • Uses best in class means of training delivery including eLearning, self-study, computer-based training, audio/video, classroom and experiential learning to ensure the relevant team is trained and to deliver via a clinical selling model the attributes of our products and services
  • Develops content for and facilitates both new hire and advanced training
  • Leads in the development of the company's Field trainers and in the implementation of FST lead programs while coaching and developing individual skills and behaviors
  • Responsible for developing training activities, including backgrounders and FAQ’s on competitive products and updates associated with promoting and maintaining brand strategies and tactics
  • Provides insights and recommendations to other key Immunology teams; medical, commercial operations, market access, and brand marketing for new hires and existing field employees
  • Provides courses in such a way to stimulate and motivate attendees utilizing a variety of media
  • Develops a means of measuring the effectiveness of training programs through testing, etc. and build post meeting surveys
  • Meets regular with Senior leaders of Sales, Marketing and Operations to brief them on feedback and makes recommendations on further training needs
  • Develops timelines and brief other key stake holders on the implementation of training for POAs, new indications & expansion field teams
  • Works effectively as a team member
  • Ensure all training is provided in accordance with company policies and procedures and are conducted in strict compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Ensures all developed materials are appropriately approved through the Medical/Legal/Regulatory (JRC) process
  • Conducts field visits with medical specialists and reimbursement managers to keep abreast of current trends, to identify training opportunities
  • Perform other related duties as directed by both the Director of Training and Development

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 8-10 years related experience in specialty pharmaceutical/biotech sales/leadership experience required
  • Must have prior sales training experience (ideally headquarter based, but will consider someone that has been a full-time field trainer)
  • Demonstrated mastery in presentation, facilitation, and influencing skills are required.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, ability to work across multiple departments and create effective teams
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, strong organizational, planning, and project management skills are necessary, with a high results orientation required
  • Demonstrated mastery in oral and written technical communication as well as background with instructional design
  • Work in a high paced, timeline driven atmosphere
  • Demonstrate flexibility, leadership, Influence, Emotional Intelligence in working with many stake holders
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel
  • Training software such as Adobe connect, ReadyTalk etc. helpful
