Product Manager OR Associate Director:


My client, a fully integrated, global biopharmaceutical company located in a western Boston suburb, that has a diversified commercial product portfolio and a substantial clinical pipeline of product candidates for chronic diseases in CNS.

I am currently seeking a Product Manager OR Associate Director of Marketing.  This position will be managing strategic initiatives for one my client's flagship product’s indications.  In addition, this role will be supporting the Sr. Director with Business Development and Lifecycle Management activities.

TITLE:  Product Manager/Associate Director

LOCATION:  Western Boston, MA Area

REPORTS TO: Sr. Director New Product Planning & Lifecycle Management      RELO: Yes                 


The Product Manager/Associate Director will be responsible for the development and execution of in-line marketing activities supporting the alcohol dependence indication of the product. The role will contribute to new product planning and lifecycle management which will include, development of market assessments and commercialization plans; opportunity evaluations and commercial due diligence for business development. The position requires a highly motivated individual who is able to work cross-functionally in order to accomplish the following objectives.



  • Participates in the creation, development, and implementation of marketing strategies and plans, including: opportunity identification; target audience segmentation; key messages; and promotional activities that increase brand awareness and accelerate profitable revenue growth
  • Collaborate with medical affairs, legal, and regulatory in developing branded and non-branded promotional material
  • Effectively manage timelines between marketing agencies and internal support areas to ensure timely completion of tactics
  • Maximize value of external partners (ad agency, vendors, etc.) in a cost-effective manner
  • Evaluate new program rollout based on the findings of test markets, pilots, or models
  • Collaborate with sales and sales training to ensure optimal communication and implementation of marketing strategies
  • Interact with field sales and sales management to better understand current market conditions and needs of the sales force
  • Provide input and direction to market research while guiding application of insights from customer research studies
  • Support the design and implementation of launch/life cycle management plans
  • Conduct market assessments, develop commercialization plans and strategies for pipeline products
  • Collaborate with internal cross-functional teams to design and execute market research, establish Target Product Profiles, and determine early product positioning
  • Partner with business development to synthesize and develop business cases to present commercial assessment findings and recommendations to senior management and inform go/no-go decisions


  • Bachelor’s Degree required; MBA a plus
  • 5 + years of pharmaceutical experience Associate Director will require more
  • Experience in strategic marketing, US inline marketing, new product planning, R&D portfolio strategy, financial forecasting and valuation, market research/analytics, and/or business development/due diligence
  • Track record assessing the clinical and commercial value of an asset utilizing KOL and internal clinical opinion, published scientific literature, market research, syndicated reports and various audits
