Research Director:

My client, a leading pharmaceutical and medical device global marketing research and strategy consulting firm, is located in Bucks County, PA.  They work with some of the world’s major Pharmaceutical companies and Biotech manufacturers. This company’s unique leverage is the way they approach marketing problems with a focused perspective.

The company specializes in specialty and high science, i.e., biologics, immunology, oncology, hemophilia and rare diseases, inline products as well as pipeline and launch.

Currently seeking a Research Director for this client.

YOU:

  • 8 – 10 years custom PRIMARY market research experience in life sciences, qual and quant
  • Prior experience managing others preferred
  • Ability to be an internal AND external consultant
  • Experience writing reports & proposals, as needed
  • Moderating experience
  • Client-facing experience
  • Solid project management, presentation and communication skills
  • Multivariate statistical analysis and SPSS (cross tabs, etc) experience preferred
  • Ability to think strategically, yet roll up sleeves and tactically execute
  • Must be authorized to work for any employer in the US without sponsorship

TITLE:   Research Director

LOCATION:  Bucks County, PA

REPORTS TO: Director Client Outcomes                      

RELO: NO RELO

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (50% to 70% of professional time)

  • Manage/coordinate with all members of project team and other internal teams including junior staff and consultants to ensure analytic output is consistent with client expectations and objectives are met within project timeline.
  • Oversee management of projects, including monitoring project scope, managing client expectations, and ensuring client satisfaction with project timing and deliverables.
  • Oversee project design to best address client objectives in a creative and rigorous manner.
  • Present study findings to client teams, as needed.
  • Write reports, prepare and review for qualitative and quantitative studies.
  • Develop/Oversee organizational standards for the development of questionnaires, discussion guides, tab and analysis plans, graphic plans, sample and weighting plans and other project materials.
  • Manage project budget and costs relative to targeted project margins.
  • Assess and manage internal and external reporting of study progress for projects.

SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (20% to 40% of professional time)

  • Conduct analysis of qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Work with Director of Client Outcomes to help meet organizational profitability goals.
  • Work with Director of Client Outcomes to optimize use of staff resources.
  • Lead/Serve on internal committees/task forces for special initiatives.
  • Contribute to organizational policy and process/standards development.
  • Contribute to the development of new products/services.
  • Develop proposals for quantitative and qualitative research projects, as needed.
  • Support business development/sales activities, as needed.
  • Mentor junior staff, including development of project-related skills and identification of advancement opportunities.

SUPPLEMENTAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (10% to 20% of professional time)

  • Qualitative data collection as needed (e.g., focus groups, in-person interviews, telephone interviews); some quantitative-only positions.
  • Represent the company’s research approach and capabilities to clients considering using Company.
  • Manage mid and junior-level researchers including ongoing performance evaluations.
  • Participate in decision making regarding career-paths/promotions of mid-level and junior staff.
  • Participate in/deliver internal training sessions.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required. MBA/M.S./PhD preferred.
  • 7+ Year’s market research industry experience required; 10+ Years preferred; Experience in health care market research preferred.
  • Significant experience with multivariate statistical analyses, SPSS and Excel preferred.
  • Willingness and ability to travel out-of-state/out-of-country.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with clients and staff in a courteous and professional manner to achieve project-related and organizational goals.
  • Ability to supervise and execute all aspects of qualitative and quantitative research projects to achieve deliverables and project profitability.
  • Knowledge of advanced quantitative market research methodologies and analytics preferred.
  • Ability to manage and mentor junior staff.
  • Courage and flexibility to undertake projects in “new” areas.
