Our Client, a multi-site manufacturer of water-soluble polymers, has an immediate opening for a Senior Logistics Manager at one of its sites in Georgia.

 

Summary of Position:

The Senior Logistics Manager will be responsible for the development, staffing, and efficient transportation of chemical products ensuring the right products are delivered to the right customer location, on time, in good condition, and at competitive costs. The Senior Logistics Manager will apply best practices in processes, technology and information systems management to continually improve logistics coordination functions to meet or exceed customer expectations.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Position reports directly to the Director of Customer Service and Logistics.
  • Direct logistics functions and department staff to assure optimal results, customer satisfaction and adherence to all environmental, health, safety and security policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Work with sales, customers and operations to establish effective distribution channels and the logistics resources and processes to meet those needs most cost effectively.
  • Coordinate and negotiate directly with transportation and logistics providers to meet customer needs in the most cost effective manner possible.
  • Seek continuous efficiency gains and cost reductions in all areas while maintaining customer satisfaction.
  • Oversee off site distribution facilities to ensure the safe, efficient, operations and inventory control.
  • Provide leadership and direction to logistics staff including training, development, mentoring and performance management initiatives.
  • Direct and oversee the implementation and application of information technology to enhance logistics management.  Use data to evaluate performance, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Actively participate in development and fulfillment of policies, procedures, and business practices.
  • Ensure compliance with all environmental, health, safety, and security practices and regulations applicable to customer sites.  Ensure that all distribution sites are in compliance and certified to company and industry standards.
  • Maintain appropriate and open verbal and/or written communication with all personnel and provide assistance and/or information as requested.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of the Company’s files, products, customers and proprietary information.
  • Actively participate or assist, as required, in the promotion and/or sales of products and services.
  • The position must interface with Sales, Manufacturing, Production Planning, Technical, Quality, Legal, Regulatory Compliance, Customer Service and Customers.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of Bachelor Degree in Business or Technical Field is required.  A BS in Logistics and Supply Chain Management preferred.
  • A minimum of ten years combined experience in logistics, inventory control, and distribution operations management is required.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in multi-modal logistics – bulk truck, bulk rail, van, flat-bed, LTL, and intermodal transportation.
  • Position requires excellent organizational, interpersonal including listening, negotiation and presentation skills. 
  • Must be Microsoft office literate at the intermediate to advanced level.
  • A strong customer-focus with the ability so support sales and gain their cooperation and respect.
  • Experience with dealing with internal and external senior level management.
  • Ability to travel approximately 10% of the time
