Our Client, a leading global supplier of specialty hydrocolloids and biopolymers, has an immediate opening for a Project Engineer at one of its sites in Oklahoma. As a Project Engineer at the site, the job will involve the design, construction, and start-up of capital projects to support improvements where necessary.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage project scopes, estimates, and approves implementation projects in support of process/site optimization initiatives following the company’s Capital Stage gate Process.
  • Responsible for any other assigned capital projects at the plant. Assists on larger capital projects by working directly with the Operations Manager or Sr. Project Manager.
  • Select best-suited process equipment for applications by meeting with vendors, running trials, and staying current on new technology.
  • Works with process/ project engineering and operations during the conception and installation of new equipment and processes to assure smooth and cost-effective introduction and startup.
  • Supports improvements in yield, throughput, operating efficiency, and reducing costs.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements aimed at maximizing capacity utilization and reducing the cost of production through process optimization.
  • Develop technical analysis of the performance of existing processes and process systems (e.g., fermentation, dry grinding, classification, surface treatment, packaging, screening).
  • Prepare written reports on findings with recommendations for further work.
  • Implement/support non-capital process changes that improve product quality and consistency.
  • Continually works to improve plant output without compromising product quality or safety.
  • Ensure quality work is completed in a timely and safe manner.
  • Must be able to manage multiple projects at the same time.

 

Required

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering; other Engineering degrees will be considered with demonstrated Process and Project Engineering experience.
  • 3 – 5 years experience performing process improvements, equipment installations capital projects and modifications, with a strong preference for candidates with fermentation industry experience.
  • Liaise with Project Engineering, Maintenance, Management, and Production personnel to provide process specifications as required to fully implement process improvements.
  • Monitor the manufacturing process on a continuous basis and identify and resolve quality, productivity or safety issues. This will require working both with supervisors and operators to troubleshoot and resolve problems as well as detailed data analysis to independently solve problems.
  • Maintain project control and accountability until the projects are accepted by the manufacturing group and all project goals are met.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required.
  • Ability to apply a disciplined experimental approach to solving production problems using data and current statistical tools.
  • Strong Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access)
