Director, Payer Marketing - CNS

My client, a fully integrated, global biopharmaceutical company located in a western Boston suburb, has a diversified commercial product portfolio and a substantial clinical pipeline of product candidates for chronic diseases in CNS.

Currently seeking a Director, Payer Marketing to support an inline product as well as a launch product in the CNS space.


  • 10+ years pharmaceutical marketing experience, with at least 3 years in payer marketing
  • Strong US focused experience required
  • Experience in public and private payers
  • Injectibles experience is a plus
  • Launch experience preferred
  • Prior direct report management preferred
  • Desire and ability to roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty
  • Must be office-based (Boston area) – not a remote position

The Director of Payer marketing will be an experienced and ambitious individual to lead the launch of a CNS product in payer channels, as well as continue to grow an existing inline product. This portfolio position offers the opportunity to significantly contribute to the growth of this product’s franchise.


  • Support continued access and reimbursement for product(s) within Public and Private channels
  • Develop and implement Public and Private Payer reimbursement strategy for product launch
  • Develop and implement pricing/contracting strategy
  • Provide field-based Account Managers with appropriate resources and materials
  • Develop working relationships with key internal/external stakeholders
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of current and evolving Payer landscape
  • Manage and develop direct reports
  • Plan and implement yearly programs and budget


  • Bachelor’s Degree required; MBA preferred
  • 10+ years’ experience in Pharmaceutical marketing, with at least 3 years in Payer Marketing
  • Launch experience and portfolio management
  • Team leadership and experience managing and developing direct reports
  • Understanding of the FDA promotional guidelines and approval process
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to forge focused business strategies with internal and external stakeholders
  • Significant analytic skills, able to clearly interpret and distill scientific, clinical and commercial information
  • Ability to effectively plan, prioritize, execute, follow up and anticipate problems
  • Ability to work across multiple functions (brand, sales, finance, product development, public affairs, medical affairs)
  • Ability to anticipate challenges and defend positions with factual information
  • Ability to influence and gain consensus from peers and management
  • Strong writing and presentation skills
  • Understanding of industry code of conduct and ethics
  • Knowledge of mental health preferred
