Director/Senior Director Global Marketing - Hemophilia:


My client, a small, well-established specialty pharmaceutical company in the North San Francisco, CA area, has multiple products on the market, as well as a strong pipeline.  They are a world leader in developing and commercializing innovative products for serious rare diseases and medical conditions driven by genetic causes.

If this sounds like the type of organization you would like to work for, keep reading. I am currently seeking a Global Marketing Director to build their Hemophilia team.  This is a launch role in gene therapy that will shift the treatment/cure paradigm for patients!!  Very exciting role.


The Ideal candidate for this role will have the following:


  • 10+ years pharmaceutical experience
  • Solid (and current) HCP marketing experience
  • Experience managing direct reports
  • Global experience or experience working with in-region marketing teams is a plus, but not required
  • Hemophilia experience is a plus, but not required
  • Orphan product experience is a plus, but not required
  • Tremendous demonstrated collaboration skills required
  • Quick learner, innovative thinker, pro-active doer
  • Launch experience required; experience launching a paradigm shifting therapy into a highly competitive market is a plus
  • Design to roll up sleeves and get your hands dirty…both strategically and tactically
  • Authorization to work for any employer in the US without sponsorship


TITLE:  Director/Senior Director Global Marketing - Hemophilia

LOCATION:  Northern San Francisco, CA area

REPORTS TO:  Senior Director



The role of the Global Marketing Director, Hemophilia will lead commercial strategy and drive the execution of Hemophilia gene therapy program. This position works closely with senior leaders across multiple functions, including members of the program core team and commercial leaders. 
This position drives commercial planning and market preparation activities by providing objective, in-depth information on current and future markets, customers and competitors. The position identifies critical business issues and opportunities for growth, collaborates with commercial/cross-functional teams, and drives strategies to set the direction for the product. 




  • Lead the on-boarding and off-boarding of Commercial New Hires
  • Develop efficiencies for the on-boarding and off-boarding processes
  • Lead global commercial strategies for Hemophilia A program 
  • Provide evaluation of market opportunities, develop business / go-to-market plan, secures resources and lead appropriate market development/ pre-launch activities
  • Liaise with other core team members to support team activities and strategy development.  
  • Play an integral role in guiding program strategy
  • Provides expert guidance and leadership on the commercial potential and market landscape to core teams, informing strategies such as medical plans and life cycle plans
  • Partner closely with medical affairs and patient advocacy to ensure physician and patient needs are addressed for innovative, paradigm-shifting therapy
  • With market access colleagues, ensure access and reimbursement strategies are in place to support patient and physician demand
  • Oversee the development of market research plans, competitive landscape assessment and revenue forecasts.
  • As needed, support business development efforts by serving as a direct commercial interface and providing evaluation of market opportunities
  • Manage a team of 1-3 product managers




  • Bachelors, preferably in life sciences or economics required; MBA, strongly preferred
  • 10+ years pharma/biotech experience
  • 6+ years in a pharmaceutical marketing role
  • 3+ years leading marketing efforts in hemophilia is a strong plus
  • Experience managing team
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, strategic and analytical skills are required
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and encourage innovative thinking
  • Product launch and pre-launch experience
