Our Client, a multi-site producer of chemicals and allied products, has an immediate opening for a Lead R&D Engineer at one of its sites near Richmond, VA.


Position Overview


As a key member of the R&D Technology team, the candidate will provide manufacturing support, develop lab scale and pilot plant designs and interact with tollers. Develop design concepts for scale-up, write definition of technology and support development of process package towards commercialization. Keys skills needed include expertise in the area of polymer extrusion and polymer processing.and the ability to work with post reaction extrusion, resin, and additive systems based on extensive experience at multiple scales


Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
  • 5+ years’ experience in scale-up from lab to pilot plant to commercialization
  • 5+ years’ experience working with Post Reaction Extrusion, Resin, and Additive systems based on extensive experience at multiple scales.
  • 10+ years of chemical industrial/manufacturing experience
  • 5+ years background in developing process engineering design scope for new processes


  • Master’s Degree
  • Proven track record of successfully commercializing new technology from lab scale to manufacturing plant.
  • Strong background in developing process engineering design scope for new processes.
  • Experience with reactor engineering a plus
  • Experience with experimental design and statistical analysis.
  • Six Sigma training a plus.
  • Ability to plan and lead projects.
