Our Client, a multi-site refiner and distributor of petroleum products, has an immediate opening for an Environmental Engineer/Specialist at one of its refineries in Texas.


Summary of Position

This position is primarily responsible for supporting group’s efforts in complying with air emission regulations.  This includes evaluating and coordinating activities to implement programs and processes required to sustain environmental compliance.  It is also responsible for communicating any compliance issues to management and to serve as the technical liaison between environmental and other refinery departments or outside sources.


Representative Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute compliance plans, processes and programs for new regulations
  • Anticipate and execute plans to address implementation obstacles for new regulations
  • Improve workflow processes, procedures and compliance systems (simpler, more productive, audit compliant)
  • Prepare reports and maintain records
  • Monitor and document refinery compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Select and direct implementation project teams and provide support to execution team members
  • Lead cross functional teams to execute plans.
  • Provide technical assistance and regulatory oversight as required throughout the refinery
  • Maintain budget
  • Integrate existing plans into new processes
  • Facilitate and participate in root cause analysis
  • Audit compliance


Position Requirements    

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science discipline is required
  • Minimum of 5 years of environmental air related experience
  • Working knowledge of EPA regulations, associated with Air rules and Title V permitting
  • Experience with EPA Refinery Consent Decree preferred
  • General refinery process knowledge
  • Ability to work independently without supervision or review required
  • Project management skills preferred
  • Build and/or manage databases
  • Good communication skills and ability to interface with project teams, departments and agencies.
