As the company continues to grow, so do their staffing needs.  I am currently looking for an Associate Director, New Products.  This new role will be focused on pre-clinical and Phase I/II assets, and helping to determine go/no-go recommendations of the existing pipeline, as well as potential business development opportunities.



  • Strong pharmaceutical experience in new products, commercial development, market assessments, commercial assessments, product development, or business development
  • Understanding of the drug development process
  • Experience working with R&D
  • Experience doing commercial assessments for assets in pre-clinical and Phase I/II, TPP, forecasting (high level)
  • Must have a strong intellectual curiosity
  • Business Development experience is a plus
  • Strong presentation and communication skills
  • Ability and willingness to roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty
  • Rare disease/orphan product experience is a plus
  • Global experience is a plus
  • Must be authorized to work for any employer without sponsorship


TITLE:    Associate Director, New Products

REPORTS TO:   Senior Director, Early New Products/Commercial Development


The Associate Director, New Products will provide commercial input to the development of the company’s early product candidates and conduct commercial assessments of business development opportunities.  The successful candidate will be passionate about developing and delivering life-transforming therapies for patients with severe and life-threatening diseases rare diseases.  This person will help drive the company’s commercial strategy for future growth of the company’s pipeline in rare diseases in collaboration with R&D and Business Development colleagues.  These responsibilities will include providing strategic guidance and commercial assessments for new products from the preclinical to proof of concept stages of development and evaluating business development opportunities.  Success will require the individual to develop strong cross functional relationships in a multicultural environment to lead the organization through accomplishing stretch objectives in a high paced environment that is focused on the patient.



  • Provide commercial assessments, input and strategic guidance for the company’s early R&D portfolio including preclinical and Phase 1/2 clinical development programs
    • Lead all aspects of commercial decisions and input for new products including development of global market assessments, commercial input to disease/indication selection, commercial strategies, commercial implications of scientific/clinical data, disease and diagnostic market development, target product profiles, product positioning, pricing and reimbursement, forecasting, early- stage market planning, customer and patient segmentation, and other activities related to strategic market development
    • Provide commercial insight and guidance to global R&D teams as directed by the Senior Director, New Products
  • Conduct commercial assessments of external rare disease opportunities and make specific recommendations on commercial potential and strategic alignment with corporate objectives
  • Develop and maintain strong and collaborative relationships with cross functional colleagues (i.e. Research, Medical, Market Research, Clinical, Discovery, Pricing and Reimbursement, Business Development, Regulatory, Legal, Finance, Sales, etc.)



  • Minimum Bachelor degree in business or scientific field; advanced business degree preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the biopharma /pharmaceutical industry
  • Prior experience Orphan and/or Rare Disease Drug markets a plus
  • Specific experience in developing high level and in-depth commercial assessments leading to important business development and clinical development decisions
  • Highly skilled in leading teams in cross-functional matrix environments including interfacing with key internal and external groups in different regions and with scientific and commercial groups in different countries
  • Strong understanding of scientific data and issues as they impact product development and commercialization with a thorough understanding of the drug development process from preclinical through launch
  • Proven leadership capabilities
