Associate Director, Payer Marketing:

My client, a fully integrated, global biopharmaceutical company located in a western Boston suburb, has a diversified commercial product portfolio in CNS.  Their pipeline is strong and expanding and includes late-stage drug candidates for the treatments of schizophrenia and major depressive disorder, along with three promising new drug candidates in the areas of multiple sclerosis, pain and oncology.

Currently seeking an Associate Director, Payer Marketing for this organization.  This role will support an inline product, as well as potential LCM initiatives for this product.


  • 5+ years’ experience in Product Marketing combined with at least 3 years of payer marketing
  • Strategic thinker
  • CNS ideal, but will consider others

  • Ability to travel overnight ~15 - 20%
  • Ability to think strategically, yet roll up sleeves and tactically execute


TITLE:                    Associate Director, Payer Marketing

LOCATION:         Western Boston, MA Area

REPORTS TO:     Director Payer Marketing

  • Development of the Payer Access Strategy and Tactical Plan
  • Support development of the payer value proposition utilizing clinical and health economic data
  • Development and delivery of supporting tools and resources for account management teams
  • Provide strategic input into life cycle initiatives
  • Lead presence at key payer congresses
  • Monitor evolving payer market and advise implications for business strategy
  • Manage relationship with key vendors and partners
  • Manage budget resources



  • Bachelor’s degree in business/science, MBA preferred
  • 5+ years’ experience in Product Marketing combined with at least 3 years of payer marketing
  • In-depth knowledge of the payer environment and understanding of the evolving reimbursement landscape
  • Pharmaceutical product launch experience is preferred
  • Knowledge of CNS preferred
  • Understanding of the FDA promotional guidelines and approval process
  • Skills and Knowledge Requirements:
  • Ability to work across multiple functions (sales, brand marketing, market research, policy, medical affairs, finance)
  • Knowledge of government pricing, codes and reimbursement
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Proficient management of agencies to develop and implement creative programs and tactics
  • Strong communication skills (writing and verbal)
  • Strong understanding of legal and regulatory environment as it pertains to government channels
  • Overnight travel ~15 - 20%
