Director of Creative Art

My client, a small full-service managed markets agency based in Northern New Jersey, provides intelligent sound strategy to increase access to brands through the utilization of actionable insights gleaned form payers, hospitals, and alternative care settings.


They tackle access and reimbursement challenges for top-tier pharmaceutical/biotechnology companies, including specialty market products. Efficiently delivered market intelligence is critical at attaining payer access & achieving commercial success.

I am currently working on a Creative Director, Art role for this client.

  • Prior pharmaceutical agency experience in creative
  • Someone that is currently an AD ready for a move up, or a Director looking for a change
  • Portfolio of examples of work, awards, etc.
  • Must be authorized to work for any employer in the US without sponsorship


TITLE:   Creative Director, Art

REPORTS TO:  Partner, Executive Creative Director


This is an opportunity to build and grow a promotional healthcare art department. Creative director must have the experience, knowledge and creative flair to help attract new clients and creative staff. Will have the opportunity to develop the creative environment and culture for a rapidly growing promotional healthcare agency.



  • Lead creative initiatives targeting HCPs (and patients) for pharmaceutical clients
  • Collaborating with art directors, copy-writers and account team to brainstorm concepts and deliver exceptional creative deliverables
  • Developing contemporary, innovative ideas that will allow this client’s brand to standout within crowded marketplace
  • Establish credibility internally and externally
  • Present capabilities and ideas to current and potential new clients
  • Work closely with account team to help develop brand plans and strategies
  • Inspiring the creative teams; ability to push creative ideas and present new concepts
  • Digital and social media vision and inspiration
  • Must lead by example and have a hands-on approach as well as delegating
  • Provide day-to-day management and ongoing communications to internal teams regarding creative-related material development
  • Contribute to new business opportunities: creative, strategic and program development
  • Provide creative guidance to client and agency teams; identifying creative gaps and opportunities
  • Being the brand steward: establishing and ensuring the creative needs of the brand


  • Bachelor’s degree in art or related field and 7+ years of promotional creative healthcare agency experience; must have serve in creative leadership role
  • Strong portfolio showcasing visual communication and conceptual skills
  • Creative industry awards and recognitions
  • Modern design aesthetics; in-depth understanding of design principles
  • Market research experience
  • Experience in new business pitches and presentations
  • Ability to supervise and manage staff, departments and projects
  • High-level client service, communication, interpersonal, organizational, decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to delegate, prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
  • Ability to assess, hire, train, manage and mentor creative staff
  • Display professionalism at all times
  • Works with confidential and sensitive corporate, client and employee information and must conduct him or herself accordingly
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency to obtain results
  • Strong working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and PowerPoint
