Product Manager, Payer Marketing:

My client, a fully integrated, global biopharmaceutical company located in a western Boston suburb, has a diversified commercial product portfolio in CNS.  Their pipeline is strong and expanding and includes late-stage drug candidates for the treatments of schizophrenia and major depressive disorder, along with three promising new drug candidates in the areas of multiple sclerosis, pain and oncology.

I am currently seeking a Product Manager, Payer Manager for this organization.  



  • 3+ years pharmaceutical marketing experience
  • 1-2 years payer marketing experience preferred
  • Experience creating pull through materials
  • CNS experience is a plus
  • Experience in personal and non-personal promotion preferred
  • Ability to think strategically, yet roll up sleeves and tactically execute
  • Highly collaborative

TITLE: Product Manager, Payer Marketing

REPORTS TO:  Director, Payer Marketing

The Product Manager of Payer Marketing will join the payer marketing team.  This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting the growth of a company product within payer channels.



  • Development of personal and non-personal tactics and programs to support the Managed Markets team
  • Development and enhancement of Access, Reimbursement and Pull Through resources for the Healthcare Provider audience
  • Lead presence at key national Payer Conferences
  • Manage and optimize Payer media plan
  • Lead and monitor multi-channel Pull Through initiatives
  • Manage relationship with key vendors and partners
  • Assist with creative agency management, status meetings, program schedules, and budgetary management
  • Manage medical, legal and regulatory review process for access and reimbursement materials
  • Contribute to development of training programs and workshops for Access, Reimbursement and Pull Through in collaboration with Training
  • Support and contribute to development of materials/ resources for national meetings
  • Work closely with Marketing Operations to plan and manage print and fulfillment for Access and Reimbursement materials


  • Bachelor's degree in business/science (MBA Preferred)
  • 3-5 years of experience as a Product Manager with pharmaceutical or healthcare industry experience
  • Payer marketing experience (1-2 years) strongly preferred
  • Knowledge and understanding of payer environment and understanding of the evolving reimbursement landscape preferred
  • Pharmaceutical product launch experience preferred
  • Knowledge of CNS preferred
  • Understanding of the FDA promotional guidelines and Medical/Legal/Regulatory review and approval process
  • Ability to work across multiple functions (sales, brand marketing, market research, policy, medical affairs, finance)
  • Proficient management of agencies to develop and implement creative programs and tactics
  • Proficient in budget management
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills (writing and verbal)
  • Overnight travel up to 20%
  • Boston based or able to relocate to the Boston area
