Senior Director, Advanced Analytics:

I am currently looking for a Senior Director, Advanced Analytics.  This person will be responsible for developing an Advanced Analytics function.

 

You:

  • 10+ years US focused pharma/biotech Advanced Analytics experience; additional global experience a plus
  • In-depth understanding and experience using advanced analytic techniques to assess strategic business issues/opportunities with demonstrated results that lead to business growth
  • Strong collaboration skills
  • Ability and willingness to roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty
  • Rare disease/orphan product experience is a plus
  • Must be authorized to work for any employer without sponsorship

 

TITLE:  Senior Director, Advanced Analytics

REPORTS TO: VP

LOCATION: Boston, MA

This individual will play a critical role in the success of the Commercial Operations organization responsible for developing an advanced analytics function.  S/he will be a highly visible commercial leader with interface to global Commercial leadership. S/he will work with the global leadership to proactively lead the assessment of the commercial strategy for the company’s key brands, evolving the Analytics tools and capabilities from core dashboard reporting and simple Dimensional Querying to Correlation & Causation statistical modeling to enable better decision making for the company.  S/he will also lead the development of advanced analytic techniques and algorithms using external longitudinal databases to identify populations at high risk of having rare/ultra-rare diseases. The individual must be an exceptionally strong collaborator, adept at analytics informed strategy design, while generating and contributing innovative thoughts and ideas enabled by leveraging key internal and external information that create meaningful value for the function and the enterprise. At an overall level, the individual is responsible for developing an innovative global long-term advanced analytics strategy and best practices that will inform and advise the global commercial strategy.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with Commercial leadership to develop an advanced analytics strategy and drive implementation plans that contribute directly to the growth and optimization business
  • Lead the assessment of the commercial strategy and activities to understand the relative impact of the different investments/activities to make recommendations on the mix of commercial efforts
  • Evolve the analytics tools and capabilities from core dashboard reporting and simple Dimensional Querying to Correlation & Causation statistical modeling to enable better decision making
  • Lead the development of advanced analytic techniques and algorithms using external longitudinal databases to identify populations at high risk of having rare/ultra-rare diseases
  • Recruit and develop appropriate talent for advanced analytics
  • Responsively provide high quality solutions and answers to ad hoc analytic requests including providing content expertise and problem-solving to very senior Corporate customers (e.g., CFO, Chief Commercial Officer, Regional Commercial Leads, Therapeutic Area Leaders, etc.) helping to shape key strategic decisions
  • Act as a central point of expertise and drive collaboration with regional and country organizations provide advice on key strategic questions and forecasting methodologies

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance or quantitative discipline
  • MBA or advanced quantitative discipline degree preferred
  • 10+ years of biotech/pharma industry experience with relevant experience in Business Analytics and Financial Analysis
  • In-depth understanding and experience using advanced analytic techniques to assess strategic business issues/opportunities with demonstrated results that lead to business growth
  • Prior experience in rare disease preferred
  • Ability to connect analytics with the overarching business questions, and can understand the link between brand strategy and analytic insights
  • Ability to anticipate future analytics trends and learn and implement new tools and capabilities to enable leadership in pharma analytics
  • Strong analytical and organization skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience managing analytic resources and project teams across geographically disparate areas
  • In-depth strategic thinking and creative problem solving skill
  • Experience in leading technical and analytic teams across geographies
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including ability to present to senior management
  • Track record of effective functional and cross-functional collaboration and leadership
