VP/SVP Payer Strategy – Managed Markets Management Consultancy

My client, a small full-service managed markets agency based in Northern New Jersey, provides intelligent sound strategy to increase access to brands through the utilization of actionable insights gleaned from payers, hospitals, and alternative care settings.

They tackle access and reimbursement challenges for top-tier pharmaceutical/biotechnology companies, including specialty market products. Efficiently delivered market intelligence is critical at attaining payer access & achieving commercial success.

Seeking a VP/SVP Payer Client Strategy for them.  This role will assess client needs and recommend and implement strategies and programs to meet those needs.  Will consider candidates from pharma/biotech, PBM’s, Commercial Payers, Medicare/Medicaid. 

  • Solid Market Access / Payer Strategy experience
  • Hands-on – ability and desire to roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty
  • Understanding of Market Research, HUB Services, and reimbursement tactics
  • Experience with specialty, buy and bill or orphan products is a plus
  • Understands healthcare policy, access and reimbursement, pricing and contracting
  • Ability to lead and develop strategic recommendations for pharma clients in obtaining access and mitigating access and reimbursement challenges

TITLE:  VP/SVP Payer Client Strategy    

LOCATION: Northern New Jersey    

REPORTS TO: Managing Partner

The VP/SVP will work with top pharma clients as the lead Market Strategy Consultant. They will be conducting and managing qualitative and quantitative projects for their top pharmaceutical/biotech clients.  They will help clients formulate and implement strategies and programs.  Services may include market assessment, forecasting, and identification/development of programs designed to meet brand objectives.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Advanced degree from a Top 20 program is a plus
  • 10+ years experience with a mix of Payer/Market Access experience, solid management consulting credentials, in-depth pharmaceutical and/or biotech experience
  • Credibility in the Payer space
  • Former payer and/or vast experience within the payer channels (PBM, Medicaid, Medicare, MCO, Health Systems)
  • Experienced in:
    • Buy and bill, specialty and orphan drugs
    • Market research
      • Primary (interviews, focus groups, tracking studies, attitude/trial/usage-ATU, etc.)
        • Advisory boards and payer interviews
        • Competitive simulations and war games
      • Secondary (IMS/Iqvia, Fingertip formulary, etc.)
      • Syndicated (Decision Resources, Datamonitor, etc.)
    • HUB services
      • PA support
    • General familiarity with reimbursement tactics
      • Copay mitigation
    • Management Consulting experience developing strategies and project infrastructure
      • Understands healthcare policy, access and reimbursement, pricing and contracting
      • Ability to lead and develop strategic recommendations for pharma clients in obtaining access and mitigating access and reimbursement challenges
      • Experience assisting clients in creating business solutions and implementing strategies into tactical plans
      • Proven ability to assess client needs and develop strategic recommendations
      • Experience working effectively on cross-functional teams with top decision makers
      • Experience in brand-building at various stages of product life cycles and knowledgeable in the development of various marketing programs within the pharmaceutical industry
    • Must have excellent written, verbal, presentation and analytic skills required to excel in defining the implications of market research findings and communicating those findings in a compelling manner
    • Experience promoting and/or managing large projects in a management consulting capacity is a plus
