Our Client, a specialty chemicals manufacturer, has an immediate opening for a Maintenance Reliability Engineer at one of its sites in North Carolina

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Provides mechanical reliability support to daily plant operations
  • Works closely with all maintenance department personnel to ensure the continued success of the maintenance programs
  • Provides technical guidance to maintenance technicians
  • Works with Engineering, Maintenance and Plant Management teams to establish reliability goals and objectives
  • Gathers information relating to improved plant operation and equipment and analyzes it on the basis of feasibility and economics. Arranges duties of investigating, developing, planning and organizing into an efficient and orderly system for accomplishing the assigned project and for meeting objectives
  • Implements & manages a machinery lubrication program
  • Determines the need for a vibration monitoring program; Develop as required
  • Prepares detailed scope of projects in conjunction with process engineering, maintenance, safety, environmental and manufacturing
  • Prepares Capital Appropriation Requests (CAR) and sets up cost control and reporting for projects
  • Utilizes analytical and engineering skills to identify and reduce/eliminate repeated equipment failures
  • Provides training and develops an understanding of the mechanical integrity program for the mechanics and the facility
  • Designs, develops and implements mechanical reliability programs and procedures to maximize equipment uptime; Including job plans (as required) preventative maintenance plans, safety plans to include LOTO’s (as required) and PM schedules
  • Develops, implements and monitors the plant reliability programs that are in place, including Enterprise Asset Management (EAM), Process Safety Management (PSM), Mechanical Integrity, preventative and predictive maintenance
  • Utilizes and provides support for our CMMS to improve on the EAM Program and plant historical documentation program
  • Prepares detailed specifications for materials and equipment to enable Purchasing to obtain competitive bids. Responsible for reviewing bid analysis and making recommendations to Purchasing
  • Implements Maintenance Excellence initiatives, goals and costs to improve the overall effectiveness of v maintenance department and actively participates in the Mechanical Integrity Program
  • Works with Engineering on PSM implementation, i.e., work practices, design and repair standards, mechanical integrity, management of change, layers of protection, etc.
  • Performs RCFA to endure long term maintenance equipment problems are appropriately investigated with solutions implemented
  • Assists with department budgeting and expenditure forecasting
  • Provides input into capital budget to drive improved reliability
  • Reviews major purchases and capital projects to optimize life cycle costs
  • Assists in tracking metrics and generating the monthly reports for area of responsibility
  • Defines spare parts and keeps SAP equipment related material master current
  • Ensures compliance of equipment to state and federal regulations (crane, pressure vessels, electrical code, etc.)
  • Provides oversight for the preventative maintenance program, including definition, documentation, failure analysis and schedule compliance
  • Provides direction to non-resident contractors for maintenance related activities and day to day technical expertise to maintenance crafts
  • Recommends materials of construction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in an industrial environment

Preferred

  • Chlor-Alkali Manufacturing Experience, Root Cause Analysis, Six Sigma, Chemical Plant Experience; Process Safety Management (PSM) Experience
